I know that other people already posted the same question as I do now. However, I couldn't find any good answers. Therefore, I don't want you guys to just show me links. Instead, I want a specific steps or guide. Please, note that I'm not trying to set up a router. My purpose is to access to shared folders and share files with other computers which use the same internet connection or connect throgh the same router..

Use a crossover cable, that's the easiest way. Go here for instructions:

What you want is a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. It looks like an external hard-drive, but it is slightly different. DAS devices can be plugged directly into the router, as opposed to being plugged into a computer. Also, NAS devices are designed to allow multiple users to access files at the same time.

There isn't much as far as setting it up. Here are the steps:

1. Purchase NAS

2. Plug NAS into router

3. Follow NAS setup instructions (per your manual)

4. Map a drive-letter to the router.

If you aren't sure how to map a drive, this is fairly simple too:

1. Open Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer)

2. Click Tools -> Map Network Drive

3. Choose the drive letter you want to assign

4. Click the "Browse" button next to the Folder dropdown.

(It SHOULD open a window showing "My Network Places")

5. Click the + sign next to "Entire Network"

6. Click the + sign next to "Microsoft Windows Network"

7. Click the + sign next to "Workgroup"

8. Choose your device and sub-folder if necessary.

NO NO NO, stupid answers. All you have to do is put every computer on the same workgroup and set the security permissions for the folders that you don't want to be accessed. Right click on my computer, click computer name and click change, then make sure every computer is on the same workgroup and then restart the computer when prompted. Once they restart everyone will be on the same workgroup and you'll be able to share resources. Its not that hard i don't understand why some of these answers seem to have irrelevant steps in them.

at the beginning close your firewall on the two desktops. that must be achieved in the time of the firewall option in the administration panel. Then connect the two computer. whilst the two the desktops are related roght click the folder you opt to share and pass to sharing and secure practices and examine the alternative share this folder on the community. Now from the different computer open the window explorer and sort "192.168.a million.a million"(i.e. the IP handle of the different computer). it is going to instantaneous for consumer call and password. enter the consumer call and password you employ to login into the different computer. The explorer will now demonstrate all of the shared folders
