Question:
how do you create links in pdf documents?

I use PDFCreator to create PDF documents from Word files. My problem is that while the hyperlinks like CLICK HERE work in the Word document they don’t transfer to the pdf file.

From what I've read the only way to create a hyperlink in pdf files is to write the full address ie. http://www.mydomain.com/whatever-else-goes-here, but I think you will agree that's not very attractive to a reader. I know you can create the links with Adobe but for occasional use it's way to expensive!

So is there any way I can create a pdf file so that the links appear as complete words like for more information 'CLICK HERE'?

Many thanks
Kevin

Use PDF Xchange Viewer - a free pdf reader/annotation/markup tool.

http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/pdf-xchange-viewer/pdfxchangeviewer.html

the homepage has a link to a free portable version that requires no installation (scroll to bottom of the page)

http://www.docu-track.com/home/prod_user/PDF-XChange_Tools/pdfx_viewer

Open your pdf file in pdf xchange viewer; go to Tools>Link Tools.

Select Rectangle or Quadrilateral Link Tool.

Select the area of the pdf for which you wish to create a link.

In the Link properties dialog box which appears next, click on the actions tab.

Click ADD and add your action (including opening a web page).

Good luck.

which version of word are you using?

in Word 2010 : its simple File - Save as PDF file & that keeps all links.

in Word 2007 : there is plugin from Microsoft called Saveaspdf

so you can goto File > Menu > Save as PDF/XPS = also keep the links.
