If you don't know what your son did, plug the router into the power, then take an unfolded paper clip and push it into the reset switch for 20seconds and your rotuer will revert to its factory settings.

You need to disable the wireless card or adapter on your computer and connect to the router via the ethernet cable supplied with it. You should then be able to go to 192.1668.2.1 and restore the correct settings. You need to tick the box that makes the router a wireless access point and make sure DHCP is enabled (tick a box that says something like "assign IP addresses automatically").

Do you have any security (WEP or WPA-PSK) set up for the wireless connection? If so, you need to check that the pass-phrases on the router and your computer(s) still match.

If all else fails, read the manual! It will be available on the Belkin website if you've lost your paper or CD copy.

Reset the Router back to factory defaults and set it up again.

There is a small pin hole reset button on the back of the router.

Hold it in and unplug the power to the router

Count to 10 and plug the power back in

Count to 10 and let go of the reset button

Now log back into the router

Are you sure the routers IP address is 192.168.2.1? Usually it is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

The easiest way would be to reset the router and start over from scratch, except put on a password on the console so that accidents won't happen again and save your config file to your pc once the router is working again and in case something happens again, you can restore your settings

reset the router

it will reset to factory defaults

get a cat 5 cable

and plug directly into the router

most router defaults are either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1

with no account name and admin as password

You can try resetting the router by unplugging it for a full minute, then plugging it back in again. Don't forget to tell your son NEVER TO TOUCH IT AGAIN.

sounds like your ISP is having line issues won't be something to do with the router, some ISPs are purely unreliable consistently changing speeds and disconnecting lines, pass to the modem setup website it is going to inform you if a stay adsl line is obtainable

You will have to reload the software and drivers again.
