Hi! I'm working for a medium sized company. We have two different locations in the US but they are far apart (Oregon to Ohio) and then we also have our headquarters in Japan. My boss wanted me to look into video conferencing so he didn't have to travel to Japan every month for meetings.

I know of skype and cisco, but as far as requirements and things like that, what should I know? What is a decent way to have a conference chat with someone in Japan?

I would recommend Visimeet from IOCOM. This service is a software solution so you wouldn't be required to use specific equipment that tends to be expensive/have high maintenance costs. They can sell you everything you need, give you recommendations, or you can use the hardware you want. We purchased our display screens from Costco. It's very easy to use and the quality is really good. I also like that we can have as many videos as we want so we don't need to choose who we see and we can have as many windows with shared data as we want. I can watch a PowerPoint and see everyone's video at the same time. Also, I know they have a server in Asia, the US and Europe which makes the quality better and faster (you wouldn't know you're on a different server, it's just behind the scenes stuff). Best part is, there's a free version. They have really great customer service that responds quickly and have sat with me for long periods of time while I set up my entire company.

Good luck!

We're using CUMeeting video conferencing software. It's feature-rich yet easy-to-use.
