Wireless Connection trying to "Acquire Network Address"?

I can't connect to my wireless internet because my wireless says that it is trying to acquire network address. It works fine when I plug in directly to my router. I've tried changing settings (from a WPA to WEP) and changing channels. Nothing has worked and I can't connect wirelessly. (Two weeks ago I could connect, and it still said "acquiring network address")

Please Help!

When you see acquiring network address it means you are connected to the access point, but have not been issued an IP address. This can be due a connection that is too weak or perhaps the access point is not assigning IP addresses (DHCP turned off). There are other reasons, but those are the most common.

re-install your wireless card if its a usb one, if its a laptop with built-in wireless card, go to device manager > network adapters > uninstall wireless lan and the finally scan for hardware changes, this will reload the drivers.

wep is no good, the security level is far too high, use wpa personal

Make sure you're using the correct form of encryption too - WEP or WPA and, if WPA, the right sub-type. Putting in the correct key but the wrong type is the same as putting in the wrong key.

Check to see if there is something like ip or mac filtering on it. Since you already have security, remove any filtering on it.
