I am at a friends house for the week and my Wireless Connection will not work on his internet (which I HAVE previously connected to). The issue is not browser-based (Internet is not working for any program, regardless of browser). Also, my computer is dual-booted, and the internet is working on Ubuntu but not on windows. If anyone can help I would love to know! Lastly, all other computers/Ipods/Smart TV's in the house are working just fine. My computer says internet access but under Ipv4 and Ipv6 it says no internet connection and my error when attempting to go to is "The server at www.google.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the web service that translates a website's name to its internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network. (etc etc etc)...... and then at the end - Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address".

1. Make sure your computer's wifi is turned on. (If it is detecting networks, then it is.)

2. Delete the old connection by going to your control panel, then selecting "network and internet settings."

3. Reconnect to your friend's wireless network by selecting the network name and entering the username and password.

4. If that fails - your friend might have a wifi protected setup on his router - so you have to press the connection button on the router before it will allow a new device to pair with the network.

If everything else works (TVs, DVD players, etc..) and Ubuntu works on your dual boot, but Winblows does not work then the problem lies with Winblows (duhh right).

What I would try is reinstall the wireless drivers. If that does not work reset TCP/IP and if that does not work reset Winsock.

they may have a proxy set up and you may have to manually put it in to access the internet
