Is there a password required. You'll have to probably reinstall windows. Try to find the password.

I have had this problem before. (I am assuming a non-domain network)

Make sure that your username and password are on both machines and are the same. That will fix it. An alternate way is to allow "Everyone" to have read/write permission, but that could lead to a security hazard.

To change your IP address:

If on a DHCP, go to a command prompt and type "Ipconfig /Renew"

If not on DHCP, Open Network connections. View Network Connections. Rightclick->Properties on the device name. Then you can edit the IP address from there.

i had this problem too. it really did do my head in. re-run the network setup wizard on all your computers. also reset your router if that doesn't help.

keep doing it. also, make sure no programs are running when you run the network setup wizard, and restart immediatly when requested. not later on.

as far as IP addresses are, stick to using DCHP, all your IP's will be assigned automatically. it is easier and more reliable. (and faster)

i assume you are talking about a workgroup network here, and not a domain one.

also, if you don't smoke, i suggest you start. and have a bottle of vodka to hand.

computers often take the p!ss and it can sometimes take ages to sort out.

another also is make sure the workgroup name is the same for all computers.

i use my address. example: 22_ROSEFIELD_AVE

p.s. that aint my address, just an example of a workgroup name.

good luck, you'll need it.

It's an adminstrator problem. Talk to the guy who's networking your computers and find out what's going on.

I don't know much about IP address changes. I suspect that has something to do with the network itself and only a computer tech savvy nut or the adminstrator would know how to do this.

The computer you are trying to access must be set to network sharing.

Open 'My computer', right click the hard drive you wish to access and go to Sharing and security.... You can click OK.

Access the hard drive from another any other computer on the network.

why change IP address is it not on same sub net, if no right click on network neighbourhood, right click properties, right click on connection, click repair.

regarding access denied this is due to the permissions on the folders or fire wall.

You need to share the resources you are trying to access and have the right permission set on it.
