Question:
How do I assign a static IP with a 2wire router for a wii?

I'm trying to optimize the speed of my wii, and I'm port forwarding, opening the DNS, and disable the firewalls for the wii. The router is ATT, model 3800HGV-B.
So far I have set my wii to allow all applications (DMZplus), after I did that, it assigned my wii a private IP, problem is, I need a static IP for it to pass the connection test (at least i think thats why its failing)
In the wii settings I'm inputting

Wii IP Address: the private ip . . . . . . . . . . (the address I chose, within my network)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 . . . . . . . . . . (my network's subnet mask, simply looked it up via ipconfig/ all)
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 . . . . . . . . . . (my router's IP address, within my network)
Preferred DNS Server: 268.67.222.222 . . . . . . . . . . (needed for open DNS)
Alternate DNS Server: 268.67.220.220 . . . . . . . . . . (needed for open DNS)

The default DHCP range for that 3800HGV-B is 192.168.1.33 through 192.168.1.250, so manually assign the address of your Wii to be any address between 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.32 and then make that IP address be the DMZPlus address.

The Best way to Forward the ports on the Wii and Other Consoles is too setup a Static IP on the Console and make sure it is Outside the range of the DHCP on the Router, then Put the Router in DMZ/Static NAT Mode and Point to the Static IP on the Console.

This will Open ALL ports needed to Play All the Online Games!!

Well, to get a static IP it has to requested on the client side, not assigned by the router. This is pretty easy to do with a computer, but I wouldn't know where to start with a Wii.

2wire routers will be default always attempt to assign the same IP to the same client, as long as it always has the same name.

You can also try going to http://gateway.2wire.net/xslt?PAGE=C07&THISPAGE=C06&NEXTPAGE=C07 (or 'Router Settings>Home Network>Advanced Settings>Edit Address Allocation'). This will allow you to do what you want and assign a certain IP address to a specific device, but if the Wii decides to change how it identifies itself, then this might not work.

The problem isn't the dynamic IP Address. Even if you were to switch it to a static IP, you'd get the same error. There is something else wrong

If I were you, I'd go to a tech forum like www.computing.net and post your question there. It is too technical I think for YA.
