Hi.

Just wondering if when I have both laptops running on my wireless network they will have the same IP address or different ones? Obviously the wireless network router is connected to one broadband connection.

Thanks in advance.

It is impossible for two computers to have the same IP addresses. The IP address is like the identity of the computer to your router. So when one IP talks, the router knows which computer is talking, versus the other computer.

They will be assigned different IPs from a pool of available IP addresses stored in your router, and unless you have a static IP set (which most people generally don't) then each time they connect they will be assigned a new IP, but never the same one.

Different ones.

The router will assign each connected machine its own Ip address for the Lan "local area network" and funnel this down to the broadband Modem.
