Need more info...
What OS is each computer running? Are they mixed? i.e. Vista and XP?
Do you have a firewall blocking access?
Do you have shared resources that would warrant "seeing" the computers on the network?
Are they in the same Workgroup?
Is the DHCP server running properly on the network?
Did you check each machine for Spyware and/or Viruses?
These are only SOME of the things you need to check to diagnose this issue...
Once you get past these, more specific help can be offered...

circulate to regulate panel set up a community, persist with the guidelines, make effective the two computers ARE on an identical WORKGROUP! you may verify workgroup in my pc, residences. This worked for me after monthes of looking. p.s. make effective printer sharing is enabled, and share the printer
