Is there a way to prevent my activity on www.yahoo.com from going over my VPN? If it helps I'm using a Mac and using WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL v 11.4.2 (build 321493). I could use the built in Mac VPN if necessary to help with this cause. I pretty much only want work stuff to go over my VPN.

The problem with VPN is that it re-directs ALL network traffic through the VPN, it becomes your one and only network. You do have to disable it to get back to your local LAN, can't have it both ways.

That all said, some of the better commercial VPN software/hardware may have some configuration to allow certain apps to use LAN instead of VPN, but this is not all that common.

EDIT: I can't reply to your email, Yahoo has it all screwed up - just goes to your profile page. The VM running VPN does complicate it, I've never run that. I think you can create a secondary "virtual" network adapter, instead of sharing the existing one. That may allow the VM machine to run VPN, and the host machine use the regular LAN. That is the theory, it should work that way depending on how the VM machine's network adapter is set up. Try to make it unique somehow, do not share the existing "host network"

what you are looking for, called "Split tunneling feature". Split Tunneling splits the VPN tunnel in literal sense. The user tells the VPN application or VPN Software which data to pass through the tunnel and which data to pass otherwise.

Let's see if the following solutions that discussed here could help you to enable split tunneling on watchgard: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Database/Miscellaneous/Q_27294436.html
