Broadband refers to a faster means of internet access (as opposed to dial-up). DSL is a broadband connection that uses phone lines as the medium. Cable is also broadband that uses co-axial cable (like your cable tv). Satellite is also considered broadband.

well... yes, but be-aware that 'broadband' (especially in Australia) comes in many flavours (or speeds if you will) and some are (much) better than others. ADSL2 is getting closer to broadband speeds but much of the so called broadband promoted in Australia is 'fraudband' and is rubbish. DSL is useful as you can get reasonable internet speed over a copper wire, which means you don't need to have another cable running (ie paying for the cable) to you house (or much additional infrastructure being required). DSL has a disadvantage in the maximum speed you get drops off the further you are away from you local exchange. Right next door to the local exchange and DSL is pretty decent. 15 kms down the road from the exchange and you may not be so impressed. True broadband would be delivered to you via a fibre optic cable. Many cities and countries have this sort of setup, especially in Asia (Korea is one of the best places in the world for broadband availability, as is Singapore). hope that helps a bit.

Not the same. DSL uses a phone line, then converts the signal to a higher speed with a modem. Broadband---Directly linked to use with a Satelite via--Wireless.

No,
"DSL or xDSL, is a family of technologies that provide digital data transmission over the wires of a local telephone network. DSL originally stood for digital subscriber loop, although in recent years, many[attribution needed] have adopted digital subscriber line as a more marketing-friendly term for the most popular version of consumer-ready DSL, ADSL. DSL uses high frequency, regular telephone uses low frequency."
"Broadband in telecommunications is a term that refers to a signaling method that includes or handles a relatively wide range of frequencies, which may be divided into channels or frequency bins. Broadband is always a relative term, understood according to its context. The wider the bandwidth, greater is the information carrying capacity. In radio, for example, a very narrow-band signal will carry Morse code; a broader band will carry speech; a still broader band is required to carry music without losing the high audio frequencies required for realistic sound reproduction. A television antenna described as "normal" may be capable of receiving a certain range of channels; one described as "broadband" will receive more channels. In data communications a modem will transmit a bandwidth of 64 kilobits per seconds (kbit/s) over a telephone line; over the same telephone line a bandwidth of several megabits per second can be handled by ADSL, which is described as broadband (relative to a modem over a telephone line, although much less than can be achieved over a fibre optic circuit, for example)."

DSL is a sub-set of broadband internet access.
And if you have no idea what I am saying (and I suspect that you won't), just remember that puke kids are polluting the internet nowadays. These immature children should NOT be allowed access to the public internet until they are at least 18.

DSL refers to Digital Subscriber Line, which uses phone lines. Broadband use to refer to internet via cable TV lines, but now it is available through phone, satellite and cable.
