My lap top's wireless settings are not working and it just says DNS is the issue?

I got my desktop computer's internet to work by hooking a Ethernet cable from the modem directly to it and that's the only way it will work, but I have hooked my modem's Ethernet cable directly to the router and a different one to the desktop computer and the desktop computer's internet does not work and neither does the laptop's internet which is wireless and when troubleshoot it keeps telling me that there is a DNS issue, I have already tried ipconfig /flushdns but it has not worked if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it

Most likely you have a static IP set with an incorrect DNS IP or a bad relay agent.



ipconfig /flushdns gets rid of the DNS cache it doesn't fix your DNS issue. Depending on what operating system you are using I'd suggest you go into the network adapters settings and making it automatically get them from what is called a DHCP server



A quick way to test this is go into command prompt or terminal and try to ping 8.8.8.8 if you can try to ping google.com. If you can't you know the address isn't resolving to an IP address.

You need to configure your router correctly by getting into its admin console. It should accept the DNS settings from the network. Most routers have a quick setup option that you can follow in the admin console.
