most remote desktop programs actually take control of the session. If you start up one of these and connect to a live computer, it becomes kind of obvious when I get bumped off my own Windows Desktop. Not sure why "monitoring" ( observation) needs 'full control of mouse and keyboard' while still being undetectable? Even if you did get something, as soon as you moved my mouse on my desktop - I'd know something was going on. If this is helping or demonstrating, then have a shared desktop solution like Remote Assistance, Cisco, LogMeIn, or hundreds of others. If you really want to monitor what your employees are doing, and do it stealthily.. ** consider if it is legal; consider why you don't want to tell them you are monitoring them. Most places it is going to be a great lawsuit against you when you discipline or fire someone because you were snooping. Protect yourself by telling your employees that the computers are monitored. If they are silly enough to do the wrong thing at work, they will still be that silly in a week, when they forget about the memo. (Personally - I think the general idea of snooping like this is contemptible; but you may have a legitimate reason. I won't judge.) then * logging software on each terminal/machine; logs uploaded frequently to a central log aggregator. * Squid or other proxy, tools that let you record and restrict traffic through your network(s) * video cameras mounted around the office to capture screens. * screen-splitters; dual monitor setups.. with one leg going to your office. *keyloggers - physical or otherwise; can be integrated to keyboards/mice, or part of USB dongle, or a lot of other places in hardware or software. - obviously, if software, be sure to tell your AV to ignore that program. * consider the old-fashioned "dumb terminal" idea, now making a comeback as "thin clients". If everything that is done is hosted on your server, and employee terminals just open a session on your server, then it becomes rather trivial to record everything going on there.

Alright great question. What you can use is VNC.

its free, its located at realvnc.com

its cross platform and easy to setup.

you want the server version for the computer you will monitor and you want the client version for your self which is called VNC viewer.

Oh yeah, this allows you to connect to their desktop and see what they are doing. just be careful not to move the mouse as per it will move theirs and then they may notice your on ;)
