I got a virus that was telling me my hard drive went critical and i had viruses bla bla bla it just took over my computer putting multiple windows of thing failing and such so i just shut my computer down and used system restore to bring my computer back. when it came back up a lot of my files and photos were gone. i later found out that it only hid my files and i was able to install a program to "unhide" them and i got everything back but now when i go on the net i noticed a major performance issue when i go on google it loads normally but when i search something it always freezes or takes long and when i try to click on a link after i was able to search something it would redirect me to another site most of the time. this is extremely annoying i installed malewarebytes already and i removed the virus bno matterter what browser i use like firefox or chrome it always does this. did the virus do this is there an way to fix it and restore my computer because it was a lot faster before the attack?

laptop
windows7

Thank You!

You should never have more then one anti virus program running in the background. I use a free anti virus called Microsoft Security Essentials, and I highly recommend it.

Another program I recommend is IObit Advanced SystemCare. It scans and repairs registry errors, defragments the registry, scans and fixs disk errors and more. Run a "Deep Care" scan with it.

You should delete junk files and old system restore points using Disk Cleanup, a program that came with windows.

Also defragment your hard drive using the program that comes with windows, just search in your start menu "disk defragmenter" and it will come up. I use Piriform Defragler (from the makers of CCleaner) to deframgent my hard drive because it shows more information, and it does a better job then the one that came with windows.

Make sure to download and install windows updates.

I recommend getting to Chrome, its probably the fastest web browser you can get. Or you can re-install your current browser to get a fresh start.

You can also re-install windows, but you will lose all your files though.

This should make your computer and internet faster.
