Question:
How can I get my Comcast Motorola SB5120 Cable Modem to stop losing connectivity?

It constantly loses connectivity and I have to jumpstart my connection by unplugging the ethernet cord to regain connectivity (I've replaced the cord and I still have the same problem). Any suggestions or is it a hardware issue (should I just return the modem)?

It could be either a hardware issue or a network issue (meaning comcast). Contact them for a replacement modem because you are experiencing connectivity problems and they should help you out. If that doesn't work, tell them to check out the network in your neighborhood to see if it's working properly. If that doesn't work, switch to a different internet carrier.

You should call Comcast and explain you have intermittent connectivity issues and ask for a technician to come to your house and take a look. The tech can check signal levels and will be able to figure out if there are wiring or network issues or if the problem is with your modem.
