Power Cycle your Modem

The router is working fine and so is the computer, it is the internet that is out

You should state the OS on your computer- I extrapolate that you have Vista/Win 7 from your description.

run- ncpa.cpl takes you to the old stand-bye Network Connections on Win 7 /Vista just so you know a neat shortcut

Go into local area connection properties, then tcp-ip properties. Make sure "Obtain and IP address automatically" is selected and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is also selected.

Click OK, then re-diagnose and you should get a more usefull message, (or it will now work)
