First off you need to be alittle more discriptive. You computer is acting slow really refers to it takes a long time to boot up, programs are slow to load, the system frequently hangs. Where as if it is just that webpages are just slow to come up then that would be more of an issue with your internet connection.

Just because you have a fast connection dose not always mean you will have a fast connection. I doubt that it is 54mbps, that is probably the speed of your wireless system, you actual internet speed will very on the package you have from your ISP, mostlikely between 768kbs and 8mbps, though so areas 20mbps is now available. Some websites restrict how fast users can connect to there servers to ensure the maximum number of people can simultaneously connect. If you notice that your connection is faster at certen times of the day there is a good chance that your ISP is restricting your connection speed to ensure there are no outages to some customers due to the high demand on the system.

Most computers actually run slow because of a hidden part of your system, which is constantly being used by Windows. This part of your PC is called the "registry" and is the central database for Windows, which stores everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper. It's one of the most important parts of Windows and can easily make your PC run slow. The more corrupt registry files your computer has, the more it struggles to read them. The files which makes it run slower and slower. To fix this, you simply need to use a registry cleaner http://computer-e-book-money.com . These are small software tools which actually work by scanning through the registry and fixing any bad files that are in there. This then allows Windows to read as many files as it wants, when it wants to.

go to: start > run then type cmd press enter and finally type ipconfig/flushdns press enter , this will greatly increase your browsing speed.

also Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC etc To get it back: Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor. Then go to: Local Computer Policy then Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth. Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default." So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well

You can use a registry cleaner to clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.
