1. Unplug the power to the cable modem and the router.
2. Run an ethernet cable from the modem to the router and plug it into the port that's designated for the modem.
3. Run another ethernet cable from the router to the ethernet port on the desktop.
3. Plug in the power to the modem first and wait 30 sec. Then plug in the power for the router.
5. Turn on the desktop and access the configuration page for the router (refer to your router manual because it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer). Then refer to your router's manual on how to setup a secure wireless network.

1) Buy a wireless router.
2) Setup the wireless router according to the directions that come with it. Make sure to assign a password to the wireless using WEP or WPA.
3) Connect the cable box to the wireless router's Internet port.
4) Connect the desktop to one of the wireless router's LAN ports.
5) You can now use wireless devices.

There should be instructions in the user manual that provide specifics, but here's how it works in general:
1. From the DSL or cable, the wire should follow this path:
Wall --> Modem --> Wireless Router --> PC
2. If your PC has wireless, then you don't need to physically attach the Router to the PC, however when you initially set up your wireless router you sometimes need to configure it from a PC that is connected directly. This is Router specific however.
3. Look in you manual for instructions on how to connect to the router directly to configure it. Generally you need to access the brower, and type in a specific URL.
Hope this helps.
