What is wrong with Windows Vista?

I just installed an optional windows update for my Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Network - Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter. Of course, the second it was dowloaded my wireless internet went down. I was not able to get it back up and running until I rolled back the driver to a previous version.

My question is, how can there be SO many problems with Vista, when it's supposed to be state of the art. I'm almost tempted to go back to windows 98.

You should take a look at who made the driver you just downloaded and I think you'll find who's to blame for that mishap.

Hint: It's not Microsoft.

It's not Vista's fault that Realtek(who I might add has a terrible driver track record) doesn't know how to code drivers like the rest of the hardware making community.

Also: There aren't SO many problems with Vista. I've been running it for 6 months straight and havent had any problems.

Also: All benchmarks have shown Vista 64 SP1 is quite a bit faster then XP 64 SP3

Also: Go with Windows 2000 over 98 and XP over 2000.

Hello Shane.

I too am also on Vista and I honestly do not like it either. The regular theme for the taskbar and all takes up so much memory that I was forced to go back to the classic theme, aka the Windows 95 theme.

I don't suggest going back to Windows 98 though. Windows XP SP2 beats all other version of Windows. SP2 has all the errors and bugs fixed and many 'smart' people use it for good purposes.

In fact, I use Windows Server 2003 (Windows XP layout) and it works great! Also, if your looking for a OS that's amazingly stable, try Linux. It's something worth to learn and to impress your friends with.

There's a lot of things wrong. Whoever says it doesn't have problems is either a fanboy or in denial.

To begin with, it's bloated. To install it you need 15GB of free space on your HDD! Leopard is only 9GB.

It's sluggish because it's a RAM and CPU hog, especially Aero and Flip 3-D (which is useless if you have more than 20 windows open).

The system requirements. 1GB RAM minimum and 1GHz CPU. Not to mention 128MB Graphics card for Aero and Flip 3-D.

It's buggy! Vista SP1 resolved some problems but some others arrived when it came out.

You have to wait a lot for Service Packs to come out.

It's Overpriced! Mac OS X Leopard costs $129 and it has more features than Ultimate, which costs $319.

The version of Windows I would recommend you the most is XP Media Center Edition because it has Media Center.

Last month my boss ordered 5 new computers for the office, but he requested specifically that they shouldn't have to have Windows Vista installed. That's how much he hated it on his laptop...
