I agree with iOS_Guy. From my US location, eu.battle.net resolves to the same IP ([80.239.186.40), and follows a similar path and timeout for traceroute. It also does not respond to ping, but does respond to HTTP (telnet 80.239.186.40 80) and HTTPS (telnet 80.239.186.40 443). Ping and traceroute are useful for diagnostics, but not required for operation. Some companies block all flows except those required to support their operation.
