Hey guys/gals, I am looking to share my internet connection used by my PC with my new Xbox 360. I have read there are ways you can do this but I am having a lot of trouble. I want to connect my 360 to my PC using ethernet and then connect to xbox live using my PC's wireless connection.

However when I right click on my wireless connection and go to the advanced tab the option to enable "internet connection sharing" isnt there!

Any advice to help me solve this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You cannot connect to your PC, you need to use a router. The router is connected to your cable or dsl internet / modem at one end and has a number of ports for computers and devices at teh other end. Plug both your computer and xbox into separate ports on the router with ethernet cables and follow the router setup instructions. The router can be wired and or wireless

Follow this step:

Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet Connections.

Click Network Connections.

Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.

Click Properties.

Click the Advanced tab.

Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.

If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.

Click OK. You receive the following message:

When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP

address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on

your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them

to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet

Connection Sharing?

Click Yes.

On the client computer

To connect to the Internet by using the shared connection, you must confirm the LAN adapter IP configuration, and then configure the client computer. To confirm the LAN adapter IP configuration, follow these steps:

Log on to the client computer as Administrator or as Owner.

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet Connections.

Click Network Connections.

Right-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.

Click the General tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the This connection uses the following items list, and then click Properties.

In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, click Obtain an IP address automatically (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.

To configure the client computer to use the shared Internet connection, follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet Connections.

Click Internet Options.

In the Internet Properties dialog box, click the Connections tab.

Click the Setup button.

The New Connection Wizard starts.

On the Welcome to the New Connection Wizard page, click Next.

Click Connect to the Internet, and then click Next.

Click Set up my connection manually, and then click Next.

Click Connect using a broadband connection that is always on, and then click Next.

On the Completing the New Connection Wizard page, click Finish.

Quit Control Panel.

FIRST get a crossover ethernet cable.

They can be bought from most stores with ethernet cables, just specify that you want a crossover cable, or an adapter from a patch cable (the normal kind) to crossover. Alternatively, you can hack one together yourself.

Then follow Pavlo's answer:

Select both your Wireless and LAN connections in Network Connections.

Right click on one of them and click bridge connections.

Now plug in ur xbox into ur PC using ethernet. And ur done.

My PC is wireless my PS3 is hardwired to the router. I tried using windows media player to set up a connection but found it to be unreliable the same as a feature in Nero. I found a piece of software called Tversity which is free. It seems to rely on donations to keep it running & by all accounts there is no spyware or adware in it. I have included a link. It automatically sets up a link to the device you wish to share your media with be it a PS3 or an Xbox360. I found it to be an excellent piece of software.

Edit:- I would add on seeing what other people have said that you do need a router in between the PC & Xbox to stream the data. That is how I have set mine up.

Your "internet connectino sharing" service is disabled. Find it and turn it back on.

start-->control panel-->Administrative tools (when in classic view)-->services.

It's in their somewhere, I don't remember what the service is called, but it gives you a description when you highlight one of them, you'll figure it out.

EDIT: oh yeah, you may need a "crossover" cable, (it's for computer to computer connections) as oppose to a straight through, or "patch" cable.
