ok so about 5-10 mins ago I used cmd to attempt to dos a website all the way in the uk since im in the U.S., it wasn't a big website at all, just a school website. but anyway I typed in "ping (the ip of the site) -t -l 6500" and hit enter, but as soon as I hit enter it said request timed out a few times and kept repeating that. Do i have anything to worry about? can i get traced? I checked the site and it's running fine, it seems like no harm was done. please all serious answers!

So, they set the site to ignore ping requests!

Yes, your IP will show in their log files as sending multiple requests. Many sites are set that way to stop dumb DOS attacks by those who think they can accomplish one by your method.

Besides the fact that one computer could not possibly dos anything not everything will respond to ping requests! It really is a beginners error.
