i have LAN problem, when i connect to LAN it's always show "acquiring network addresses". how to make it work?

i used a compaq presario cq40 notebook, win xp sp2 home edition, used Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast, i set to automatic both ip or dns....
please give me a hand...

PC Command Line:

-

Click [Start] - Click [Run...] - enter: cmd, Click [OK]

-

At the prompt (c:\.....>) enter: ipconfig /release, press [ENTER]

-

At the prompt (c:\.....>) enter: ipconfig /renew, press [ENTER]

-

TEST: Connect to LAN.

-

If NO SUCCESS:

-

At the prompt (c:\.....>) enter: ipconfig /all, press [ENTER]

-

Ensure DHCP Enabled == YES

-

If IP Address == 0.0.0.0 OR 169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255, perform ALL steps again.

try finding your ISP's Primary and Secondary DNS IP addresses, then setting them manually on your router.

those are important for your computer to automatically get a IP address, where the local DNS server is the router, which gets its information from the ISP.

This error won't create any serious problem.

But to avoid it

Go to properties of lan.

Configure TCP/IP

Don't use automatic options .

Set your IP to something like 192.168.1.0

Set default gateway to 192.168.1.1

Set Default mask as 255.255.255.0

In DNS use

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220

These are of OPenDNS.

Now re-connect your LAN.

I have seen this on my HP Pavilion, am fairly sure clicking on repair connection (right click on wireless icon in system tray) was the fix, alternatively try configuring a new wireless connection.
