Wifi is a Wireless Local Area Network. One way you can find out if there is wifi is to use a laptop or an ipod. Yes, most of the time you can get wifi for free, but at some hotels and planes and other more "exclusive" areas will charge you for wifi. But, if you live on a college campus, the libraries will no doubt have wifi for free. Good Luck, and feel free to e-mail me at monkeychow5@yahoo.com

Wifi is a way to distribute YOUR Internet connection to other devices that you own using no wires. To start using wifi, you will need to buy a router, which run about $50-$200 depending on the speeds you require, or latch on to your neighbors if they have an unprotected network. The router connects to your DSL or cable line to connect to the Internet, then wireless distributes that as wifi. After the router is set up, you will need to buy wireless network cards for your computers. They usually fit in a USB slot and run around $30 per card as you will need one per computer. iPhone, iPod touches and many smart or super smart phones already have wifi built it, which makes a router the only requirement. Again, unless your neighbor has an unsecured wireless network (without a password) wifi doesnt provide free Internet access at HOME. However, if you have a laptop or phone with a wifi card, you can take it down to the lscal Starbucks or McDonalds and get FREE internet.

WIFI is wirless fidelity. It's when you have an internet access than you have something called a modem that you connect to your internet cable to transmit a wireless internet access point. You don't have to pay to have wifi, just the internet from whoever you have. Charter, Verizon, etc. It's not that hard to set up. Hope this wasn't to confusing. Alot of public places as coffee shops do this too.

wifi is when you could use other networks around you. You only can be a wifi network if you are using a hotspot such as a mifi broadband. but you can connect adoc mode from device to device free.

i'm getting this far... instantaneous setup isn't too perplexing, merely persist with the training interior the router instruction manual or wizard set up software. while you're having issues the two pay somebody to set it up for you or stumble on a properly reported pal to configure it. as quickly as the instantaneous community settings are configured that's a extremely elementary device. yet then TDS blocks added connection to my router for added setup. i won't log into my router for added setup and the tech fairly a lot needed me to dangle up on him- possibly reason he does not have a clue what to do (ideas you I truthfully have had relatively creative techs interior the previous resolve each thing else ever) i can get into my TDS modem and notice that it acknowledges the hot router so i comprehend its there and dealing. What do I do next? relatively at a standstill and refuse to artwork with crappy techs from geeksquad-esque places and choose smarter tech pals for sure. Please help! (This grew to become into 1000000000000000 situations extra elementary as quickly as I had cable, ideas you. Setup grew to become right into a snap!)
