My house was recently renovated and our wireless router hasnt been moved yet. Because of this the PS3 can no longer reach the wifi. i was wondering if its possible to connect a laptop to the router using wireless and THEN use the laptop as a router so that the ps3 can connect to the laptop which is connected to the router via wireless? basically can a laptop be used as a wireless router while connected to the internet wirelessly?

Thanks in advance

What you're really asking is whether or not you can use the laptop as a "repeater", or "range extender". (Not as a second router.)

It's theoretically possible - with the right software. But I am unaware of a software package that will do the trick.

If this is a long-term situation, look into commercial "repeaters" and "range extenders". Otherwise, live with it until the router gets moved.

yes you need to make it a repeater, but i dont know how to do that...thats tough to do.

one thing you can try, it get aluminum foil behind your router, so it can reflect its signal more towards your PS3 for now. so you have your ps3, router, and foil, all in line with each other. make sure the router is in the middle.

have the foil maybe 2feet behind the router. us like 8 sqaur feet of foil. get any metal stuff out of the signal path if possible (file cabinet, etc)

also you can tweak your router settings for max signal power...some are not set like that.

it truthfully relies upon on the make of your computing device. My Toshiba has a swap at the front, at the same time as my wifes has to press F8. examine the tutorial that got here with your computing device or flow to the manufacturers website
