Ok so we have Cox internet and my config is separate modem (Motorola SB5101 http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/US-EN···01-US-EN) and separate wireless N router (DLink DIR825 http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=681).

We are switching to Qwest and we received a modem/wireless router(g) (Q1000 http://www.actiontec.com/products/produ···?pid=200) combo from Qwest. We thought we were just getting the modem, but they said our order was right, so here I am...

Now I still want to use my N wireless router (DLink DIR825 http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=681) that I have already and disable the wireless router function on the modem/(wl)router (Q1000) combo.

I've disabled the wireless router function on the Q1000.
Disconnected the internet cable from the Motorola modem and...
Connected the cable to the internet port of the DLink router to LAN#1 of Q1000
(Which technical support said to do)

But I cannot access the internet still. PC1 is wired to the Q1000, which I can access the internet. PC2 is wireless, but not connecting to the DLink router through the Q1000, not connecting to internet.

NOTES:
- I haven't changed any SSID or any security passwords on the DLink router.
- When I connect it back to the Motorola modem, I can access the internet fine.
- I have reset (unplug/plugged) the Q1000 and the Dlink router when connected together, still nothing.
- I've Connected the Ethernet cable to the LAN port of the DLink router to the port of the Q1000, but access to internet became slow on PC2(wireless) and no access at all on PC1(wired). {weird, but that's what happened :/}

What do I need to do?

Thank you,

Aside of all that babble that is half understandable, I CAN tell you this much. Piggybacking routers is ONLY going to make your internet slower. Use what they gave you and forget all the rest of the BS period.

I would stick with the motorola Surfboard modem and the Dlink, keep the Q1000 as a backup. I use a bandwidth of my cable TV for internet and have a Motorola Modem and a Dlink 524. My friend is on his second modem/router combo, provided by his ISP, in 18 months, keeps overheating( made in Taiwan) All I have to do is upgrade my router as the SB5101 will last forever. If you have to use Q1000 for warranty purposes , did you get an install disc with it?

Connect: internet>modem- ethernet to - router>PC('s) ethernet, wireless or combination. You can also download pdf manuals from the manufacturers website?

once you reset the router you need to reset the modem on a similar time. via resetting the modem you get a clean IP address. purely resetting the router will deliver out the previous IP address as a sign and could not connec t everywhere yet would be detected via different instruments mutually with your computing device and DS Lite Unplug the potential to the two the modem and the router, wait a minute, and plug interior the potential to the modem and whilst 4 of the 5 lites are on; plug interior the router. whilst it lighting fixtures up, reboot the computing device and bypass on line.
