No, it has a MAC table which stores MAC addresses rather than network addresses. It can't be considered to be a routing table since it does not contain routes - instead all the entries are on the directly connected network. A routing table on the other hand does not detail the devices connected to the network (at the IP level the ARP table does that) but it does contain details of routes - that is the correct path to send data in order for it to arrive at the correct device. A switch doesn't since everything is on the same network as far as it is concerned.

I thought this definition was quite concise: A routing table is a set of rules, often viewed in table format, that is used to determine where data packets traveling over an Internet Protocol (IP) network will be directed. All IP-enabled devices, including routers and layer 3 switches, use routing tables. To the guy below: Layer 3 Switches use routing tables, incorrect information updated.

No! Network switch is just only a switch, it does not have a routing table.

MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to most network adapters or network interface cards for the identification of the manufacturer. or sometimes it is called *** physical addresses.

While the routing table is just only a lists of routes which the network can identify the particular destination of a network.

A switch does have a routing table.

A MAC table has to do with devices on a single segment. A routing table helps with directing traffic to the proper segment or subnet.

mac is the machine address like 00 56 78 05 04 50 29 34
