Question:
Can not connect to the internet?
2009-10-05 17:59:31 UTC
I am having trouble with my internet. On the computer in the bottom right corner a message appears saying "Connection status: unknown the dependency service or group failed to start". I have tried to run a SFC / Scannow in the cmd but it will not finish it only gets to 3% of verification and says "Windows Resource Protection could not preform the requested operation" . I have also typed netsh winsock reset and the other netsh rest and it still doesn't work. I've looked everywhere for a solution but can't find one. And I don't have an installation disc. I am using vista basic. Can someone please help me?

kinda sounds like a hardware problem either mother board or main hard drive. but i would try scannow in safe mode. and you might try defraging first. in safe mode too. if these don't work, a local tech can tell you soon what it is.

looks like your windows services arent working or your L2 cache is not functioning correctly.

to deal with the services problem you should run services.msc and go to wireless zero config (assuming you r on wireless)

if not then your l2 cache is malfunctioning (most probable cause), which is commonly attributed to faulty motherboard.

to deal with this, locate your motherboard and put a VERY TINY (dont put too much, about quarter of a drop) drop of water and oil mixture (preferably lubricant) on or around one of the resistors (looks like tiny batteries sticking from the motherboard), enough to make contact from the resistor to a circuit, thus helping lower the resistance so current can flow correctly through the motherboard.

if it doesnt work, then wipe the board clean and put a grain of salt and a tiny drop of water to help the electrolytes stimilate the board, helping to induce current throughout hte board. this may take several resistors to work.

if it still does not work buy a motherboard from newegg.com and a wireless card, to make sure.

You might want to try boot into Safemode WITHOUT Networking and run SFC scan again see if it will able to repair the files.
