Check for dust in the ethernet port and on the cable connector pins. If this doesn't work then turn the cable round - so the end that usually goes in your computer will be in the modem socket, and vice versa... worked for me. If it still doesn't work, you have good reason to either smash up your computer for being stubborn, or buy a new ethernet cable and possibly get the ethernet port repaired.

No. maximum computers no count if computing gadget or laptop in simple terms have one Ethernet port. WiFi (instantaneous) isn't an Ethernet port. I even have worked on computers with quad Ethernet port playing cards (4 Ethernet ports on one NIC). in many cases 2 or greater Ethernet ports are put in on servers yet occassionally they are additionally put in on laptop computers for particular purposes.

Replace the Ethernet adapter. Sounds like it's dead.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried another cable?

Go to google and type in Broadcom NetXtreme gigabite ethernet controller or go to:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/BROADCOM-NetXtreme-Gigabit-Ethernet-Bcm-57xx-925.shtml

Just download and install the driver and you will be ok.
