Some questions about Wifi?

Actually have a couple of questions here.
I bought a Dell Inspirion Windows 7 in October and just recently noticed that in my Control panel under Devices there was an yellow triangle with a lovely exclamation point in it!
Anyway, I click it and right on top with a yellow exclamation point is Microsoft Virtual wifi mini adapter and it says:
"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" Anyone know how to deal with this?
I'm not sure how long it's been like this, but my daughter's ipod with wifi will not pick up from my house. I live about 60ft from my mother and we share DSL. I have the DSL cord from her box plugged directly into my pc. I'm a little (extremely) ignorant on every detail of WiFi. Should WiFi devices still pick up from that short a distance?

It seems that there is a problem with the device drivers for your network adapter. The device drivers for your network adapter probably got corrupted, or there is some other driver related issue. I would just install the latest device driver updates first. Chances are, if you don't know what a device driver is, all your device drivers are probably out of date and you may as well update all your drivers while you're at it.
