Your IP address is assigned to you by your ISP. If you have a router, that too can assign each of your computers plugged into the router an IP address by using DHCP.

You can unplug the power chord to your cable modem, and router if you have one, and generally leave it unplugged for at least 5 minutes then plug it all back on again.

Sometimes it works best if you leave the power unplugged for overnight. You then will be assigned a different IP address. Regardless though, that IP address can still be identified by your ISP as belonging to you.

In short, follow these steps:

1. Get to a command prompt. (START, run, cmd).

2. Type "ipconfig /release" (without the quotes).

3. Shut down computer and router if you have one.

4. Turn off computer.

5. Turn off all ethernet hubs/switches.

6. Turn off cable/DSL modem.

7. Leave off overnight.

8. Turn everything back on.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck!

go to "network connections". double click to open. go to properties. Click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click properties. you can change it to any ip within the range of your router/modem. If you don't know what you're doing (which it doesn't seem like it since you're asking this question), I wouldn't recommend doing this. If you won't take my advice, at least write down your current ip and dns server info just in case. If you can't get online, set it back to automatic and everything should be back to normal.

It's a pain in the asss. Go to youtube and they'll show you. If you were kicked off a message board and you can't get back on then use a ip changer. If you had AOL in the past you can still sign on and use it, it'll change your IP.

For your PC which is connected to a network, ask your administrator. You might not have permission to change your IP.
What?

IP Addresses are supplied by your internet supplier and therefore cannot be changed, however you can mask your IP address using a Proxy.
