Router IPs don't always begin with 192.168 or 10.X.X.X

Best way to check if you have Static or DHCP is type arp -a in cmd

Start>>run>>cmd>>arp -a

It will tell you if you have statiic IP address or Dynamic

update!

10.0.0.1 is your internal IP address but the other one is your WAN/external IP address

You can change internal ip address to anything/anytimr but you don't have privileges to change the external IP address.

It is possible (although unlikely) that your router has a static IP address that is issued to you by your ISP. This is usually only the case if you are paying extra for this feature. ie you WAN IP could be static

Your router then issues dynamic IP addresses to the LAN, so that it's easy to configure machines on you local network.

You have a dynamic private IP and a static public IP.

You have a static IP. Your router assigns a dynamic IP to your computer. So your computer has a dynamic IP but your external IP is static. Go to whatismyip.com to see what it is.

router assigned IP addresses usually begin with 192.168.

You probably have a static internal IP.

Your external IP, however -- the one visible by the rest of the world -- was obtained via DHCP. It's dynamic.

Its a myth, dynamic is dynamic, you can however use a DNS service to map a domain name to your dynamic IP, so you just need to remember the domain name.
