I recently just a week or so ago downloaded a file and was getting around 1-2mbps download speed, although the whole week this week Iv'e had a slow internet connection, loading videos, web pages and downloading things has been slow. usually when i want to watch a video on youtube i only have to wait a few seconds and then it starts and never buffers throughout. but when i tried to watch a video today it took 10 minutes to load 30 seconds of footage. the thing thats has confused me the most is that i think when i download things on my computer straight onto my downloads and not through torrents its slower by a lot. for example today i downloaded a 8-9 mb file through a torrent magnet link and onto Vuze and it downloaded around 200kbps but when a downloaded a file around the same size straight into my downloads folder i got 9.4kbps. the even more confusing thing was that i tried downloading another file straight into my downloads at the same time and it was varying between 180-120kbps, but besides that i keep getting around 2-11 kbps in my downloads folder even though my download speed (even though its been dramatically slowed) can download at a higher rate is it possible that my folder or something related to it is capping my download speed? plus i haven't capped my monthly usage because we haven't used the internet that much this month and we have an unlimited data and 500 GB download cap. and my monthly download limit isn't being reset for the month because it already was earlier this month. i live in australia in the lower perth region and I'm with Telstra on their ADSL2+ connection the fastest one for three states. can someone please help me with this!!!

Download speed varies on more than just how much you pay for. It also varies on amount of traffic on the network (internal and external), how fast the host server is, etc... So it is very possible to download one file at 8kbps and another at 150kbps. You can test your connection by going to speedtest.net and running the test. If the results are close to what you pay for, then there usually isn't anything to worry about on your end. If there is a huge difference, call your ISP and have them test your connection. There might be something wrong on their end.

Probably a virus or a spyware, try scanning the computer, check the windows updates cause they get easily annoying, seeding has an effect too

attempt this: turn off your router thoroughly, watch for 20 seconds, turn it on lower back. the reason being, once you spend distinctive time with an analogous IP your internet providor places you "on the backside of the line". with the aid of restarting the router you get on suitable lower back and the fee would be lower back quickly. that is got here approximately to me various cases. sturdy success.
