a while back i had a modem, with 2 computers connected, i forwarded ports then and got great download speeds on utorrent. i recently bought a router, for wireless connections, and this caused problems.
so now i have, a speedstream 4200 modem/router, one computer connected into that, which then is connected to the Dlink DI-524 wireless router. and this computer i am trying to setup and a laptop are connected wirelessly. i set up a static IP adress and have followed this guide. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DI-524/Utorrent.htm
and done it correctly. yet utorrent is still saying my port (6881) is blocked! what am i doing wrong? how can i fix this!? please help!

If you're chaining your two routers you will have to forward from the first router to the second, and then from that one to your computer.

For instance your 4200 might have an internal IP address range of 192.168.1.* with the external address of your Dlink being 192.168.1.2, so you would forward from the 4200 to *.2. Then (again for instance) your Dlink might have an internal IP address range of 192.168.254.* with your computer being *.2. So you would forward from the Dlink to *.2.

The torrent protocol demands which you seed besides as leec h, and seeding demands a forwarded port, because of the fact which you could't connect via a router to a working laptop or computing gadget at the back of it devoid of forwarding the port. you need to use a protocol that doesn't require importing - like FTP. yet peer to look skill that in case you want to get carry of you may characteristic (you're comparable to those you get carry of from, you're friends).

In the same guide it specifically states to use ports over 12000. You're using a port in the 6000 range. Utorrent does not like ports under 12000.

Simply change the port to something like 14944.
