If when playing you have 10 Mbps it is plenty enough. The problem is, this is the MAX speed and not the guaranteed speed. Depending on server and people active on that server, the speed can decrease significantly to the point where you get frustrated trying to play. With as low as 1Mbps you can still enjoy the game.

10Mbps is probably the speed as you read it off of your hub/switch. This is the speed at which computers in your house talk to each other, not the speed at which your computers talk to the internet.

Basically you are looking at the wrong number.

However, it should also be noted that latency is a far greater factor than bandwidth when it comes to online gaming.

High bandwidth doens't guarantee a good gaming experience. The only way to really figure it out is to try it because latency varies greatly from location to location.

I will say though that most cable internet providers do a great job of keeping latency low so if you have cable odds are you can handle it. DSL is a bit more iffy but usually okay, and dial-up is out of the question.

The 100mbs joker is referring to is only to the switch in the modem. As noted the 10mbs is probably wrong and is probably as similar problem, just an older network card. The fastest cable modems generally don't go over 3 or 4mbs and DSL is generally below 1mbs. There are web sites that will tell you your true speed.

Your connection is 'good' i won't say suited because of the fact even those with a good, employer connections nevertheless get lag, it truly is because of the fact of ways the complicated interest works, in case your working around leaping around corners spinning, the laptop would be puzzled and lag, it truly is because of the fact the servers ought to make predictions whilst getting co ordinates and that. good good fortune with the interest!

That should be plenty fast enough for online gaming. Most internet connections are slower than 1MB. I imagine the 10MB is probably being misreported.
