Accidental Deletion of Winsock and Winsock2 in registry, can't go online.?

I am currently using Windows Vista. I deleted my winsock and winsock2 in the registry and now I can't go on9. I have tried to reset my ip etc. But still I can't get online. Please help

If you backed up your registry (which you didnt) you could have imported it back.

If you had System Restore enabled (which I know you don't) you could restore it to a day before you deleted winsocks

Let this be a lesson to you for screwing around with the registry without taking precautions :D

I know little about vista, but the xp fix would be to go to add/remove programs, windows components, uncheck networking services. click aplly, you may need to reboot at this point. After the reboot, go back to that same place, check the networking services box again, it will reinstall everthing that has to do with networking, including your winsock. I doubt this has changed much with vista, because this fix would aplly to XP all the way down to windows 95.

a million. I had 2 solutions deleted for not following the TOS while each and each ingredient interior the TOS is irrelevant to my question. human beings think of that a thumbs down isn't adequate. 2. No. 3. No.
