How are the modem, wireless router and computer interconnected? Does the modem connect to the router, which then connects by Ethernet to the computer?

Is the modem connecting to one of the PC ports on the router, or is it connecting to the routers WAN port (assuming the router has an Ethernet WAN port)?

The router may not be offering normal gateway and DNS server addresses if it detects that there is no WAN connection.

From the data you have supplied, I suspect that the modem is connected to one of the router's PC LAN ports. I also suspect that you have DHCP services enabled in both the modem and the router. When the modem is not connected, then the DHCP service in the router is providing the 192.168.1.88 address, but not providing other addresses. With the modem connect to a PC port, then there are two DHCP services active. There is no guarantee which service will provide the address settings, but it looks as though the modem service is providing the details including the gateway and DNS server addresses.

If the modem is connected to a PC LAN port on the router, it is recommended that the DHCP service in the router is disabled. If the modem connects to the WAN port, then the DHCP service should be enabled.

If the router has an Ethernet WAN port, connect the modem to that port and see what happens. If the router does not have an Ethernet WAN port, with the modem disconnected, try connecting to the router with addresses 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254.

"Without modem" seems strange you even get an Ip address, hence the question is where does the .1.88 IP address come from?

One possibility is that your network adapter has an "alternate" TCP/IP setting, where if DHCP fails, someone has defined an alternate Ip to use. In that case, there is no gateway anyway, hence it is empty in all probability. Check your network adapter settings, under TCP/IP V4 properties, and look to see if there is some alternate setting (separate tab under properties)

Are there the different desktops interior the relatives contributors? The IP handle reported could purely have been the exterior IP handle, no longer the close by IP handle your on the spot router assigned on your pc. The exterior handle does no longer be information that your specific pc downloaded something unlawful. - Dominic
