I have a wireless cable internet in my home. I have been noticing that there are several different internet signals available on my laptop. At the same time I've noticed that I'm having problems with pages loading on my computer. I play internet games on my computer since I've been unable to do much since I sprained my knee a few weeks back. The games are freezing while I'm playing them. I should not be having this kind of problem. My computer is a HP WIN/7 laptop and is only 7 months old. I have very good internet security on the laptop. I update security, scan for viruses, spyware, malware all the time. I get messages that my laptop is functioning like new. So I shouldn't have any connection problems with my internet.

I've been doing some digging into the signals and found out that they are originating from mine! I live in a large apartment building with thin walls and are very small (600 sq. ft). I called my cable company and asked them a ton of questions about the internet freezing. The tech said that it is possible that there are people using my wireless connection. She said that probably when they are using the internet on their computers that it is causing my modem to pause and that's what may be causing my internet to freeze. I pay really good money for having turbo wireless in my apartment. Also, the tech said that the signal from my modem can carry for close to 4000 too 5000 square feet. I don't mind my one neighbor using the connection. She is a single mom with 2 small children on a tight budget. However, could the problem really be caused by people logging into my internet signal? Or could there be spyware or a virus on my computer? Thanks

First...If you can give us the specification of your computer ( processor, RAM, graphics card) and the game you are playing, we might pinpoint the problem...and oh ..your connection speed as well.

Second...not because you are using WIN7 and new laptop you can play any game smoothly. It depend no your laptop specs and connection speed.

First, having a very good computer specs doesn't mean you should have a very good connection. Specs of the computer has nothing to do with the internet. 2nd, yes if your internet connection is being shared to others, your bandwidth will be affected and it will cause a slow internet in your part. To make sure that you are getting the speed you are paying check your internet speed. Make sure first that nobody is sharing your internet. Try to make it secure first then test your internet speed. If it is within what you are paying then there is no problem with your internet coonection. Then the next step is to observe by doing your gaming stuffs on line with your computer only. I suggest make your network secured first for at least 3 days and observe your speed...goodluck...jexter@eastern.com.ph

yes if other people are sharing with your connection it will slow down your internet speed, why don;t you set a password to your wireless connection and share it only to your single mom neighbor.
