Two WinXP share an internet connection via a Linksys WRT54GL router, yet I can not set up a network workgroup. When I view the entire network, I see the MSHOME workgroup I tried to set up using the network setup wizard. When I try to access, I receive the following error:

"Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is currently not available."

What am I doing wrong?

I've had similar problems. I my case it was because the machines had software firewalls on them (e.g. zone alarm, mcafee, windows firewall). Try turning them off or un-installing them.

In the longer term you should be able to set up a rule for windows networking to work through the firewall.

to establish a community between 2 desktops. a million. the two pc's prefer a community Card (NIC) with an Ethernet Connection. 2. bypass Over - Cat 5 cable - That way you will no longer prefer a router. 3. Workgroup call should be comparable on the two desktops. 4. laptop call should be diverse on the two desktops. 5. Run community setup wizard on the two desktops. invoice

are you set up as the administrator, or just a user? you cant changed setting unless you have admininstrator account, its that or their is just some little simple setting that needs to be changed that you are over looking, double check everything including connections
