Does Windows 8 natively support TRIM?

I just purchased a 500Gb SSD and I spent a LOT of money on the upgrade.
Therefore, I would really like to keep this SSD performing top-notch as long as possible.
My laptop that I plan to upgrade already had Windows 8 installed.
My question is, once I install the SSD, would I need to manually enable TRIM (in general AHCI)?Would I need to disable automatic HDD optimizations (like scheduled defrags)? How would I go about disabling it?

Thanks in advance!

open CMD and type:

fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

and press enter. a Zero means TRIM is enabled. A one means it isn't.

Just make sure the SATA port/controller is in AHCI mode in BIOS.

The rest will take care of itself (TRIM included).
