Do I really nid to fill in the "default gateway" when connecting computers via switch (No Internet Connection)? Or I can just leave it blank? What is the "default gateway" of class A, B, and C? I've googled some tutorials and show a "192.168.1.1" IP with a default gateway of "192.168.1.2"...Will I just copy the IP Address (192.168.1.1) and change the last number of the the address to (192.168.1.2)?

If you're just using a local network with no internet service, then you do not need a default gateway.

The default gateway on your network is the device that allows traffic to leave your network and travel onto other networks, such as the internet. Just as the name says, think of it as a gate in your fence. Without the gate, you cant leave your yard (your network). But add a gate, and you can leave your yard, and visit other people's yards. The default gateway can be assigned any valid ip address on your network. Its does not have to be any certain ip address.

The default gateway is the IP of the interface of the router that is subneting your network. You are making an ad hoc network, in other words pc to pc, so u don't have to fill default gateway field cause u don't have a device that is subneting that network.

The "gateway" is the path to another network. If you only have a local network with a switch there is no gateway and no address needs to be entered.

The default gateway is 255.255.255.0
