I have a cable internet connection and it keeps on dying! It's usually perfectly fine (and fast) but starting at 6 pm onwards, it keeps dying for a few minutes, and then coming back! This is very frustrating, because I'm usually playing online games at that point/chatting with people!!

Ugh. Please. If you need extra information, please tell me ;_; And I'll pm you or something, and give you your ten points if you need help (of course, you could just be a genuinely nice person :D)

This is really frustrating.

And it could also just be my computer o_o; I've had problems before, where it couldn't access the internet at all. Is it my network card? And if it is, how do I replace it?

Try the obvious first.

1. Open your internet browser. Clear the cache, tools, internet options, general, delete cookies and files.

2. Turn your modem, router, computer(s) off. Wait one minute, turn on the modem, wait one minute, turn on the router, wait one minute, turn on the computers.

If having done these things does not help contact your cable internet provider's tech support.

Note: cable has just so much bandwidth available to your neighborhood. The 6PM to 10PM hours are the busiest of the day. So your area may have too many high demand users on-line at the same time.

It sounds to me like the router may be undesirable. I had one that dropped connections for greater or less 2 minutes each ten or so. It took me months to ascertain that the router became at fault. this style of problem appears like a hardware problem. To get rid of utility by way of fact the challenge, reset the router. replace the bios to the latest version, than reset up the router. If it nevertheless does that, try swapping it out.

Which company provides your connection? Did you tell them about your problem? What they replied?

Do you leave your computer always on? Or: Do you use to shut down your computer?

Which Operating System do you use? Windows or Linux? Which version?
