Wi-fi was meant for long-range, high power sharing whears bluetooth is low-power, low-cost, high-efficiency short-range device communication.

Bluetooth networking is a pseudo COM port that connects using PPP (like dial up networking). Unless you configure login security for the PPP, its only security is its limited range (about 10 meters or 30 feet). I used that to connect my Palm TX at work before we had a wireless router. I have never heard of Bluetooth being called Ad Hoc, but I guess PPP can go either way as long as either computer is set up to answer it. I used PPP between Linux computers directly connected with null modem serial cable long before Bluetooth existed.

Ad hoc WiFi is different protocol for directly connecting two or more devices, higher speed, longer range, and can use normal wireless security methods. I used that to connect my Palm TX using WiFi to a friend's laptop with ICS enabled to access the internet through their wired cable modem connection.

properly, they do distinct issues. Thats like evaluating Apples to Oranges. WiFi is for instant information superhighway. almost each and every pc on the marketplace comes with a instant card. Bluetooth is extra for instant audio equipment and microphones. some laptops contain this.

Ad hoc means device connected by peer to peer or point to point without a device called access point.

I think there is no different point between bluetooth and wi-fi.

ad hoc connects to the users around it, where wifi connects directly to the internet worldwide
