A friend of mine gave me instructions on how to file share my pictures so I can acess them on another computer in my house. He told me that I need to use some Sharing folder in My Documents but there isn't even one there to use. Could someone please give me the steps for file sharing?

On My Computer there is a folder called My Network Places and when you look there, you will find a folder marked Shared Files. If you drag a copy of a file to that folder, it will be available to others on your network that look in their My Network Places where a folder with your computers name will show up. You can also drag a directory and including a whole drive. If you drag C:\ there everything on your computer is accessible over the net.

Here you go:

first create a new folder and name it whatever you want.

Right click on the folder- Click on sharing and Security-

Click on Share this Folder - Name it shared pictures -

Click on permissions - Make sure everyone is highlighted-

give everyone full control -under where is says allow.

Click OK then Click ok again

Now when you want to see it from the other computer you will need to map the the folder on that computer

Right click on my computer - click on map a network drive-

You should see a drive letter - leave as is - in the folder box-

type \\the name of the computer where the shared folder is\name of the shared folder- Click finish and there you have it...

First things first is do you have file and print sharing enabled?
