If I have a switch that has vlans 1, 9,10,11 with 1 having a port that trunks to another switch that has only the default vlan1, will a computer on vlan11 be able to communicate with a computer attached to the remote switch on vlan1.

Even if you configure VLAN 9, 10, and 11 on the other switch you cannot communicate between VLANS without a LAyer 3 interface. You have to route between the VLANS so the fix is



1. Configure VLAN 11 on the second switch and move the PC into that VLAN



2. Configure Layer 3 interfaces for both VLANS and point the DG of the machines to the Layer 3 VLAN interface

you need to enable vlan 11 on any device that gets between your two computers, otherwise does frames cannot see any other device on the network, thats the whole point of having vlans.

No, they will not be able to communicate without going through a router first.
