Why does my router keep disconnecting? Help?
I have D-Link adsl router with built in modem, had this for about three years.
Just lately it keeps disconnecting, sometimes three times a day. So i unplug it, plug it back in, re-do the settings ie user name and passsword, then it can take up to 40 clicks trying to connect it, it's a pain in the @ss.
It used to do it occasionally before, but like i said it keeps doing it now about three times a day. Waht on earth is going on with it.
The adsl light is always solid aswell even though the internet has gone off.
Can anyone advise me..Thanks

I'm not entirely sure what is 'disconnecting' from your post.

IF the modem (not the router....) is losing it's IP, then you'll need to contact your ISP to either have your lines checked or replace the modem.

Also, if your using a microfilters with your ADSL modem try unplugging them all and testing. If the problem goes away it's very likely a microfilter needs replacing.

If the router is losing it's connection to the modem, you'll probably need to replace the dying hardware.

Remember the rule about buying 'all-in-one' stuff. If just ONE breaks you replace ALL ;)

I would go with an IP provided modem and a wireless router. Try Belkin at Walmart. They run about 39 bucks.

Your IP provider should give u a new modem

Has your home an alram system that connects to the phone line, or you use your home phone handheld one or the baby security walkie talkie is in the area? If one of these is they may be interferring with your dsl line and also the wireless.

There is also another posibility that if your dsl cable that connects from the wall to the router strangled with other wires on the area it may get difficulty because its digital.
