network load balancing ?

Question

i have installed Administrative Tools for windows 2003 "adminpak "on windows xp
I want to configure it , this machine act as server (internet gateway for 100 PCs ) .
I have 2 Adsl line .i connected every adsl to ethernet adpter in the server . all network connected to the third ethernet adpter
so the server have 3 connections.
i want all network PCs to be connected to two adsl lines , and if one line disconnected and other one work...so i should use Administrative Tools for windows ....but i dont know how to configure it.
anybody help plz
the three connection are :

adsl1 ip address 84.36.64.101 255.255.255.248

adsl2 ip address 84.36.47.44 255.255.255.248

lan ip address (gateway for PCs) 10.10.10.10 255.0.0.0

This isn't really network load balancing. What you're trying to do is combine two adsl internet connections into one bigger pipeline. I doubt you can do this with your existing hardware/software. XP is not designed for this, nor is your workstation. The best you could attempt to do is create a network bridge with your two adsl connections, but I question whether this would work on an XP box.



You'll need to purchase a special router that is designed to combine two internet connections into one pipe, then connect it to the XP box.

I don't think you can with just XP. You really need Routing and Remote Access (RAS) from Server 2003. Either that or a Linux box.



And why are you using class A for 100 computers? That is a lot of addresses to make your router keep track of.



I do this with a router that supports two WAN connections. You can get a decent one for about $300 that will work great and it is really easy to configure..

Do you want LOAD BALANCING or FAILOVER?



*Load balancing is using both lines to maximize throughput.

*Fail over is using a SINGLE LINE and only use the secondary if the primary fails.



SonicWall.com has a firewall appliance capable of VPN and NAT which keeps you private behind the wall. ALSO, it will load balance or do fail over..........Cost is a little high, but we are using it in a 100 person office as our primary firewall and VPN appliance. It is pretty solid for what it is.
