I have Comcast's most basic Internet plan, and when someone watches anything on Netflix, the Internet becomes slow. I tried using an Ethernet to reduce any range issues from the router without any help. Would a different router help this, or is it simply the provided speed that is an issue? Whenever I play games while someone is on Netflix, my ping maxes out and the game becomes unplayable...quite frustrating.

It actually don't matter about the router. You will only get what ever speed your provider sends to your modem. The only way I know to get faster internet is to call your provider and ask if they have a faster internet plan.

Actually, if you want to improve WiFi performance, you can just try a repeater or extender. And you even can DIY a booster just with a beer can. It's very easy to increase signal bars to 4-5,http://www.mywifirouter.me/blog/making-a-wifi-booster-with-a-beer-can/

It might be your router, or you might have a comcast issue.
