I've watched tons of videos on how to do it and read a few people's instructions, but for some reason I can't find the right settings. I have an AT&T Netgear 7550 Router. Under the Advanced header, I don't see anything for WLAN connections so I can't find out how to open up certain ports. Can someone help me with this please?

NAT is "network address translation" . The router is disclosing the LAN IP addresses and on the outside shows only one - in most cases his own. That is a security feature to hide the network structure locally and to make it less easy to attack the network from the outside. If NAT is disabled the router forwards the local IP addresses to the computer at the outside the local computer is communicating with. That has in my opinion not much to do with "opening ports". In my old NETGEAR routers NAT had to be enabled in the configuration menue, in my last ones it is enabled by default and has actively to be disabled by those who wish to do so.

The NAT on/off and "port forwarding functions of the Netgear 7550 router obvioulsy had been disabled by AT & T. Below is a link to a forum in which someone had sound a way to make it work. If it is a good one I cannot say, having no X-Box. It seems however that many people have the problem, very very few having a solution. Therefore: try it, good luck.

Do you mean port forwarding? You do not open NAT settings on any router. In fact this makes little to no sense. Port forwarding works like this: 1. You assign a static, not dynamic IP address to the LAN device to which you wish to port forward. This IP address must not be in the assigned DHCP range set up in the router but must be in the same subnet. 2. You then go to the router config page that addresses port forwarding. Check the manual for this as each router does it somewhat differently. You assign the port #, select TCP or UDP depending on your application, and enter the LAN IP address of the device to which you wish to receive the forward.

Usually the NAT settings are determined by your service provider. The best and most reliable way to change it is to contact them directly and see if they will change it.
